Building Tweet Engine, a Twitter management system on Google App Engine

This talk will cover the architecture and technologies used in Tweet Engine, a Python App Engine Hackathon project built during Snow Sprint Austria 2010. Tweet Engine seeks to allow multiple users to manage a single Twitter account through a simple, secure and easy to use interface.. This talk will cover the various technologies and how they tie into the design ofTweet Engine:

  •     OAuth and the Twitter API
  •     i18n and localization for App Engine
  •     Building a persistence model for a distributed, non-relational datastore
  •     Google App Stats for application profiling
  •     Asynchronous task queuing and making requests fast

Attendees of this talk should have some exposure to App Engine or Python web application development, as this will not be an introductory or beginner level talk. App Engine enthusiasts will learn about many of the new APIs and tools available, while general web development professionals will learn about OAuth, a third-party authentication mechanism for identity platforms as well as basic localization techniques for their applications.
