PyNews about CFP, voting, grants and schedule!

After the big success of PyCon Italia 7 we started PyCon Italia 8 with a new record: we had about 50% more talk proposals than last year! This is the best result of talk proposals we ever had in PyCon Italia history so far :)

CFP Closed, community voting is now!
From Jan 23rd the community voting will officially start: all the owner of an Early Bird ticket will be allowed to vote their favourite talks to build the schedule of the next PyCon Italia 8! The numbers make us think that the average level of the speakers will be high and that there will be a good selection during the community voting. So, if you submitted a proposal and you really want to speak at PyCon Italia, tell the people you know will come to PyConIT to buy an early bird ticket and vote for you!

Hotel Rooms:
As usual, we have an agreement with the conference venue, Hotel Mediterraneo (****), and we offer you a few rooms with special price. You can book the rooms directly on our website as long as you have a ticket so, hurry up and book your accomodation before they sell out!

Grant request:
We got a lot of grant request after we published the grant procedure. We will do our best to let everyone join PyCon but we will surely have to choose between all the requests because we unfortunately have a limited amount of money. We will then close the grant request form on Jan 31st. A special commission will then examine all the requests we got. We will re-open the grant form later if we find more funds or sponsors who will help us!

Beginner's Day:
Many asked us about the first day of PyCon Italia Otto. Officially, the conference will start on thursday, April 6th: on that day we will run an open beginners day with free workshops for newbies, students, teachers and children. We will announce more information about this iniatives soon. Moreover, we will run the Python Italia 2017 assembly on that evening. Keep in touch for news soon!
